Surprisingly enough, you can find a lot about a doctor all on your own, by doing a little digging, or a background check of sorts. When making your choice, keep the following in mind:

• Price is not the only thing to consider when choosing a doctor; the quality of the facelift procedure, as well as the experience and expertise of the surgeon, must be taken into account.
• Choosing a surgeon based upon the lowest possible price may very well prove to be the most expensive, particularly if another surgery, and another surgeon, are required to repair the original work.
• Check out your doctor! You can – and should – contact state boards and medical societies to verify a doctor's qualifications and experience, as well as his or her past patients to verify the quality of his or her work.
• Don't be afraid to ask questions! We're talking about major surgery here, so don't be shy about asking questions. A couple of key things to find out: Is he or she board certified? Does he/she have privileges to perform facelift surgery at an accredited hospital? Does the surgeon have any special training in facelift surgery and is the surgery a major part of their practice? How many facelifts does he/she perform yearly and for how long has he/she been performing the procedure?
