Surprisingly enough, you can find a lot about a doctor all on your own, by doing a little digging, or a background check of sorts. When making your choice, keep the following in mind:

• While price may be important, keep in mind that the experience and expertise of the surgeon, as well as the quality of the surgery itself, are crucial.
• Don't choose a surgeon based upon the lowest possible price as that may leave you open to more surgeries, even another surgeon, and more expenses in order to repair the original work.
• Scrutinize your doctors! You can – and should – contact past patients, as well as state boards and medical societies to verify the qualifications and work of your surgeon.
• Ask away! Don't hesitate to ask questions; this is major surgery after all. Just a few important questions to ask: Is the doctor Board Certified? Does the doctor have privileges to perform facelift surgery at an accredited hospital? Is facelift surgery a major part of the surgeon's practice and does he/she have any special training? How long has the doctor been performing facelift surgery and how many procedures does he/she perform per year?
